OSKA (aka Maria Burger) creates an inviting world of powerful melodies, grooving rhythms and poetic, narrative lyrics. On her debut EP Honeymoon Phase, audiences got a taste of Maria’s elegant songwriting, which touches on familiar themes such as love, heartbreak, climate change and family. Songs such as Distant Universe, Somebody and Love You’ve Lost showcased OSKA’s remarkable songwriting skills right from the start of her journey.

The title of their debut album, My world, My love, Paris, is an anxious reminder that the future of the planet has never been so uncertain. ‚My World, My Love, Paris‘, the album’s title track, was written just before the outbreak of the pandemic and tells the story of a couple who board a boat as the world is coming to an end. As they sail away, they ask each other: „Could we have done more with our lives?“ It is a spiritual cousin of a song by Edith Piaf, one of Mary’s greatest inspirations, who sang: „Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien“ („No, I have no regrets“). Despite the different themes, „My world, My love, Paris“ is ultimately a snapshot of a young woman trying to make sense of growing older in an increasingly uncertain time. „My world, My love, Paris“ is about making sense of it.
