Schedler Music establishes Neighbouring Rights Agency

The know-how acquired over the years about the various collecting societies for neighbouring rights (GVL in Germany, LSG in Austria, SWISSPERFORM in Switzerland), led us to further expand the Neighbouring Rights activities and to offer our services in the field of neighbouring rights to an extended circle of interested parties in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

For several years now, we have been supporting our artists and label partners who approach us with GVL, LSG or SWISSPERFORM concerns.

The know-how acquired over the years about the various collecting societies for neighbouring rights (GVL in Germany, LSG in Austria, SWISSPERFORM in Switzerland), led us to further expand the Neighbouring Rights activities.

More and more well-known artists, producers and labels are already using our services, which is why we decided to establish a „Neighbouring Rights Agency“ and offer our services to an extended circle of interested parties in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

In order to obtain remuneration for the use of a sound recording (e.g. use on radio, TV or in public institutions), a number of things have to be taken into account in the various countries: different and changing registering procedures, foreign payments or onward settlements between the collecting societies (which often do not function correctly) or constant adjustments to the distribution regulations.

Fiona Schedler (Head of Neighbouring Rights Service): Supporting partners in the management of their neighbouring rights is a sensible and logical step for us in the further development of our services – especially since neighbouring rights are a related property right to copyright and we can already provide the infrastructure and know-how in dealing with collecting societies.

We are investing a lot of energy in this expanded remit and look forward to working with many more successful artist and label partners.
