Schedler Music Signs KARL
Born in Mozambique and raised in Vienna’s Margareten district, KARL is one of the most exciting new voices in modern Austropop. In his songs, he blends Viennese wit and indie guitar with catchy melodies and personal stories. His music oscillates between melancholy and euphoria, self-deprecation and vulnerability, and tells of long nights, fleeting encounters, and the little moments of everyday life.
With releases like “Letzte Nacht,” “Sapperlot,” “Schau Schau,” and his latest single “Herr Musikant,” KARL has already demonstrated his knack for catchy songwriting and authentic storytelling.
“KARL has a very unique way of telling stories, and at the same time embodies everything that makes an exceptional songwriter: a clear artistic identity, strong melodies, attitude, and a keen sense of language. I’m very excited to accompany him on his journey as my first signing at Schedler Music, working together with our team to help shape his development as a songwriter,” says Jan-Simon Wolff.
KARL will be managed in collaboration with Gerald Hoffmann. A native of Upper Austria, Hoffmann first gained recognition as the rapper Gerard and has been working successfully in Berlin for many years as a songwriter, A&R, and music manager. Through his joint venture CCB Records and Universal Music Germany, Hoffmann is already supporting KARL on the label side.
“KARL was already part of our songwriting camp in Vienna back in May. It quickly became clear how well he fits into our existing roster—both personally and creatively—and what a great addition he is to Schedler Music. We’re convinced that working with our songwriters and producers will lead to many exciting synergies and new creative connections,” adds Alexander Schedler.
On September 16, 2026, KARL will perform live at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg as part of the Austrian Heartbeats Showcase & Reception.
KARL is also part of the “Good Kid x GEMA x YouTube RBF Writing Camp,” which will take place on September 18, 2026, at the o2 Studios in Hamburg.
