20 years of Schedler Music - A look back at two decades of success in the music publishing world
On 12 July, we celebrated our 20th anniversary with a party at the Hotel Berghof in Lech am Arlberg. Eighty-five invited guests – including songwriters, artists, publishing partners, long-standing companions and colleagues – accepted the invitation to look back together on two decades of successful activity in the music publishing world.
The company’s history began in January 2005 with the founding of Rudi Schedler Musikverlage (RSMV) in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Expansion into Italy followed in 2012. Rudi Schedler had previously worked for 22 years as managing director at Koch Musikverlage and later at Universal Music Publishing before deciding to take the plunge into self-employment. Supported by a dedicated team of four employees, he laid the foundation for a company that continues to be characterised by quality, passion and strong partnerships. Over the years, the original publishing house with a focus on administration and sub-publishing representation has developed into a versatile music publisher with an international orientation, which has become an established name in the industry under the name Schedler Music.
An important turning point in the company’s history came in 2013, when Schedler Music organised its first songwriting camp, which was combined with an industry meeting, the Schedler Music Summit – a format that was still largely unknown in German-speaking countries at the time. Songwriters from various publishing houses came together with the company’s in-house authors to write new songs in changing teams. This form of creative collaboration quickly became the publishing house’s trademark and was very well received. Between 2013 and 2019, the Songwriting Camp & Schedler Music Summit was held seven times with great success. Unfortunately, the planned eighth edition in 2020 had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. After a long break, the popular songwriting format made a successful comeback in January 2024 and 2025 as the ‘Schedler Music Winter Camp’ and was once again enthusiastically received by the creative scene.
We have also made important structural changes at Schedler Music. The opening of a second Austrian office in Vienna – complementing our headquarters in Tyrol – has brought the company closer to artists, songwriters and partners in the east of the country and strengthened our presence in the central music networks. Today, we operate with a team of ten in Tyrol and Vienna and also work for affiliated companies in Germany, Switzerland and Italy. Our international orientation is complemented by an extensive sub-publishing network.
We currently represent around 15 exclusive authors, approximately 20 editions, eight publishing administrations and 15 sub-publishing catalogues. The artists we represent (some as original publishers, some as sub-publishers or administrators) include Josh., Silbermond, OSKA, Luca Hänni, ARRIE and Ina Regen, as well as big names in German-language pop music, including Helene Fischer, Andrea Berg, Maite Kelly, Vanessa Mai and Vincent Gross – a broad creative network that impressively reflects the diversity of the publishing house. In addition, the company is a direct member of GEMA, AKM, SUISA and SIAE and is involved in relevant industry associations such as the DMV – Association of German Music Publishers, the Union of Austrian Music Publishers and the Swiss Association of Music Publishers (SVMV).
To mark the anniversary, we hosted an atmospheric summer party in the mountains. The location for the ‘20 Years of Schedler Music’ anniversary celebration on 12 July was the Hotel Berghof in Lech am Arlberg, near the Schedler Music headquarters. For guests who had arrived the day before, a group hike was on the agenda – an opportunity to chat, network and enjoy the natural scenery of the Arlberg. The festive evening then offered an atmospheric review of the company’s history with musical highlights from the publishing catalogue and a live performance by the artist Josh, whose songs are part of the Schedler repertoire.
Finally, we would like to thank all our publishing partners, songwriters and cooperation partners for their trustful collaboration over the past years. In his speech, Rudi Schedler emphasised: „I would particularly like to thank my publishing team; without their outstanding performance, such success over 20 years would not have been possible.“
